The Center for Translational and Experimental Cardiology (CTEC) was established to promote a comprehensive program of basic and translational research in the field of cardiovascular disease.
The growing burden of cardiovascular disease is due to an inadequate understanding of the underlying mechanisms and factors that trigger its development. The mission of the CTEC is to support interdisciplinary research in basic, translational and clinical cardiovascular sciences, including heart failure, cardiomyopathies, cardiac arrhythmias, genetics, epigenetics and immunity, and to use this knowledge to develop innovative therapies and approaches.
The goals of the CTEC are:
To create a forward-looking and collaborative environment in which scientists and cardiologists can work together to achieve common goals in cardiovascular care;
Supporting basic and translational research that can be translated into therapies and improve patient care;
Dissemination of knowledge through lectures, seminars, special mentoring programs for translational cardiology and other educational opportunities;
Promotion of multidisciplinary research in the laboratories and departments of the University of Zurich and in collaboration with external institutions;
Helping researchers develop a plan for translating research findings into effective cardiovascular therapies
